Tell Congress Fix Medicare Now!
Physicians are the only Medicare providers whose payments do not automatically receive an annual inflationary update. As a result, Medicare physician payments have lagged 26% behind the rate of inflation growth since 2001.
But now Congress can act to finally address this discrepancy. H.R. 2474 is bipartisan legislation that would index physician reimbursement to the Medicare Economic Index (MEI). While there are many other concerns with the Medicare physician payment system that still need to be addressed, this legislation is a great first step toward fixing payment inequities, injecting financial stability into physician practices and assuring Medicare beneficiaries have access to high-quality care.
At this moment, OSMA’s delegation to the American Medical Association is standing up for Oklahoma physicians at the AMA annual meeting where AMA has just voted to make this a top legislative priority.
Please

and urge them to help fix the flawed Medicare physician payment system by supporting H.R. 2474 today!
