Friday Health Plans of Oklahoma Placed in Receivership, Ordered to Liquidate Beginning Sept. 1

The Oklahoma Insurance Department placed Friday Health Plans of Oklahoma into receivership due to insolvency. Friday Health Plans of Oklahoma, Inc. has been ordered to liquidate beginning Sept. 1, 2023. Fortunately, Friday Health is a member of the Oklahoma Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association (“OLHIGA”). OLHIGA will assume payment of Friday claims consistent with the Friday Health policies up to the statutory lifetime limit of $500,000 per covered policyholder.

What physicians need to know about this change:

Valid Coverage: Friday Health coverage is valid until midnight, Aug. 31, 2023, and providers must continue to provide care to Friday policyholders. Beginning Sept. 1, 2023, Friday Health policies are no longer valid.

Special Enrollment Period: A Special Enrollment Period has begun to allow Friday Health insureds to find new health insurance coverage. Those that enroll before Aug. 31, 2023, and continue to pay their premiums will have no gap in coverage.

Claims Payment: OLHIGA is working with the receiver to ensure there is no disruption in claim payments. Please DO NOT resubmit claims. This will slow the payment process.

New Claim Submission: Please submit NEW bills/claims in the same manner as you sent them to Friday Health. Please DO NOT resubmit claims. This will slow the payment process.

Payments: Claim payments will be by the same method (ACH/Check) as selected with Friday Health.

Calls: The Friday Health call center will be open for medical management and authorization until close of business on Aug. 31, 2023. Please note that contacting the call center about the status of your claims will not expedite payment of your claims. OLHIGA will pay all valid claims up to the statutory limit.
