OSMA Foundation Accepting Grant Proposals

The OSMA Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application review process. In 2023, the nonprofit organization invested $96,650 in community grants. The Foundation annually supports $30,000 to medical students/residents with OSMA memberships and advocacy opportunities. The Foundation has four focus areas established by its board as funding priorities that serve the entire state of Oklahoma and our physicians and their patients:

  1. Public Health
  2. Healthcare Delivery
  3. Communication Initiatives
  4. Education

The Foundation seeks out organizations that are creating significant, lasting, and transformational change – either through smart responses to today’s medical needs or through systemic solutions that address the root causes of society’s health challenges. We look to help expand effective programs or facilitate new strategic partnerships and collaborations that have the possibility to becoming sustainable. Our grant making is geographically focused on the entire state of Oklahoma.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be nonprofit organizations that are organized and operated for charitable purposes and recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt public charities under Sections 501©(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Public educational institutions without an IRS determination letter may also be eligible to receive grants.

The OSMA Foundation Does Not Fund:

  1. Individuals
  2. For-profit businesses
  3. Organizations that do not have a Federal Tax ID number
  4. Government agencies
  5. Project Related Investments (PRIs)

The Foundation invites proposals annually on January 1 and the Foundation accepts only one application per grantee per year. NOTE: All grant applicants must include current year Financial statement in their grant application proposal. Due to the volume of requests, we ask that organizations that have received a decline wait a full year before resubmitting a request. New and current grantees of the Foundation who have questions regarding applying for funding, please feel free to reach out to Courtney Stampley.

Selection Process

Deadline for all proposals is March 15, 2024. The Foundation board may contact applicants with questions and request more information during the selection process.

Proposals are assessed based on their alignment with the Foundation’s funding priorities;

  1. The organization’s capacity to carry out the expected activities;
  2. How effectively the proposed activities can address an expressed need in the community; and
  3. The likelihood of achieving measurable, positive health impact for Oklahoma.

The ultimate grant making decision resides with the board and is usually determined during the Foundation’s annual board meeting. Once a decision is made, applicants are generally notified within two weeks. The Foundation requires grantees to use the following language on the grantees social media pages and any print media releases to acknowledge grant funding from OSMA Foundation:
