State Agency Appointments: Volunteer to Serve Today!


There are several state boards and commissions for which the Oklahoma State Medical Association (OSMA) is responsible for submitting nominees. None of these appointments require major time commitments, but they are vital to regulating our profession and improving healthcare across the state. The positions below will all be coming open in the next few months, and the OSMA is seeking qualified candidates.

Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision
Must have been in active practice continuously for the three years preceding the appointment. Must be a graduate of a medical school recognized by the Oklahoma State Regents or the Liaison Council on Medical Education. The governor makes appointment from a list of three names for each vacancy.

Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board
Appointed by the administrator of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority from a list of not less than six names submitted by the OSMA for each vacancy.

Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board
Appointed by the attorney general from a list of of three names submitted by the OSMA.

Respiratory Care Advisory Committee
Appointed by the Board of Medical Licensure from a list of qualified individuals submitted by the OSMA who is not already a member of the Board of Medical Licensure. The physicians on the list must have special qualifications in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory problems and, wherever possible, be qualified in the management of acute and chronic respiratory disorders.

Physician Assistant Committee
Appointed by the Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision from a list of qualified individuals submitted by the OSMA and who is not a member of the Board of Medical Licensure.

Child Death Review Board
Appointed by the director of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth selected from a list of physicians submitted by statewide organizations representing physicians in this state.

Nursing Board Formulary Advisory Council
Four members, to include a pediatrician, an obstetrician-gynecological physician, a general internist, and a family practice physician.

Opioid Overdose Fatality Review Board
A physician with emergency medical training selected from a list of three names submitted by the OSMA.
