OMMA Outlines Upcoming Program Changes…Including a Victory for Physicians

The 2019 Legislature passed several new measures regulating Oklahoma’s Medical Marijuana law, many of which go into effect on August 29, 2019. The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) is currently taking steps to implement those statutory modifications and has provided an outline of the upcoming changes. In addition to HB 2612, commonly referred to as the “Unity Bill” which provides a framework for the emerging industry, HB 2601, supported by OSMA, includes language creating a “short-term” 60-day license to purchase medical marijuana. This is a tremendous victory for the physician community which voiced tremendous concern about providing a two-year license to purchase marijuana without the capability of patient follow-up.
