Oklahoma House Committee Passes Revenue Bill

By a vote of 21-5, the Oklahoma House Joint Committee on Appropriation & Budget passed HB1033X which includes the $1.50 per pack cigarette tax and other revenue streams found within the Step Up Oklahoma proposal. The OSMA endorses this revenue raising and healthcare-related package. The proposal helps secure a more stable revenue stream to the state and enhances funding for Oklahoma’s Health Agencies while reducing tobacco use, the most prevalent healthcare cost driver in the state.
