Medicaid Funding Bill Headed to Governor's Desk
Governor Mary Fallin’s call for a Second Special Session of the Oklahoma Legislature specifically requested additional funding for Oklahoma’s Medicaid program, SoonerCare. To accomplish that goal, the state Legislature passed SB1XX providing $17.7M to the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) in order to maintain current SoonerCare provider reimbursement payments through April 30, 2018. These appropriated monies are coming from new general revenue dollars and are therefore not dependent on any tax or fee increase. After the measure is signed into law, the OHCA plans to conduct an emergency meeting prior to the first of the year in order to eliminate the 6 percent reduction in Medicaid provider reimbursement payments which are currently scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2018. Next year, the OSMA will continue to encourage the Legislature to find a consistent and reliable funding stream dedicated to healthcare services.
