Medicine Day 2017

A very big thank you to the nearly 150 physicians and medical students who came to Medicine Day this year to talk to legislators about the important issues impacting health care in Oklahoma.

Medicine Day attendees had a chance to talk to their lawmakers and hear from Rep. Mike Ritze, D.O. and Sen. Ervin Yen, M.D. on the important issues going on at the Capitol.

HB 1013, the measure to allow nurse practitioners to have independent practice without any sort of physician supervision, was obviously the hot issue of the night. But doctors and lawmakers also addressed a variety of other important topics, such as Medicaid reimbursement, maintenance of certification, vaccinations and tanning by minors.

OSMA would like to thank PLICO, our presenting sponsor for the event, as well as the following specialty groups who co-sponsored Medicine Day.

  • Oklahoma Society of Anesthesiologists
  • Oklahoma Academy of Family Physicians
  • Oklahoma Academy of Ophthalmology
  • Oklahoma State Dermatological Society
  • Oklahoma Chapter-American Academy of Pediatrics
  • Oklahoma Chapter-American College of Physicians
  • Oklahoma Chapter-American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

Medicine Day is our best opportunity each year to present a unified front and show lawmakers that the House of Medicine is strong together. So thank you to everyone who helped make that possible!
