OSMA Will Welcome New Student Members
Wednesday, August 13, 2008 is the date set for this year’s Welcome Reception, which will be held at the Oklahoma History Center, located at 2401 N. Laird Ave, across the street from the State Capitol. Registration will open early at 5:00 p.m. to allow attendees an opportunity for a complimentary tour of the history center before the dinner begins. Food and drink will be provided by the OSMA and PLICO at no charge beginning at 6:00 p.m. and the program will end by 8:00 p.m. The Welcome Reception is always a fun and informal way to get to know fellow students and to meet the leadership of the state and county medical societies.
Your spouse, or one guest per student, is also invited to attend with you. There is no need to RSVP as we will have plenty of room to accommodate you and one guest. Dress is casual. Our event sponsors will be providing door prizes for reception attendees that will be of use during your first year.
During the event, we will provide you with an opportunity to join the OSMA/AMA for a reduced four-year student membership of only $28. The regular dues amount is $68; however the OSMA Foundation has agreed to underwrite $40 of this amount. This special $28 rate is available only during the month of August for four-year student memberships. In addition to the reduced rate, by joining the AMA for four years, you will receive a FREE Netter’s Anatomy Flash Card for iPod. If you do not have an iPod you may choose a Stedman’s Concise Medical Dictionary with CD-ROM, which will also be distributed during the event. (Available on a first-come, first-served basis)
If you cannot attend the event, but would like to join the OSMA/AMA, please contact Kathy Musson, Associate Executive Director, at (405) 843-9571 or toll free at (800) 522-9452 and a membership application will be forwarded to you. We hope that you will see the huge benefit of being a member of the largest and most well recognized organization in medicine, one which will represent you throughout your career.
