Opioid Commission Announces Findings

On Tuesday, Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter announced findings and recommendations of the Oklahoma Commission on Opioid Abuse. OSMA President Kevin Taubman, M.D., is a member of the commission. The 31 recommendations include: E-Prescribing mandate; Good Samaritan law; taxation on opioid manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors to create a funding mechanism for opioid addiction treatment; regulation of medical clinics not owned by medical professionals; limitations on the quantity of opioids prescribed; continuing education requirement for prescribing opioids; among other findings.
